January 26 devotional from Joshua concerning possessing the land.
This is my first post but it might be lengthy. The Scripture the Lord brought to my mind was in Genesis when Abraham was told by God his descendants would return where he was at (Canaan) but the sin of the Amorites would have to become full before they could go into the land.
Gen 15:16 But in the fourth generation they shall come hither again: for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet Exodus 23:27-30 KJV
I will send my fear before thee, and will destroy all the people to whom thou shalt come, and I will make all thine enemies turn their backs unto thee. [28] And I will send hornets before thee, which shall drive out the Hivite, the Canaanite, and the Hittite, from before thee. [29] I will not drive them out from before thee in one year; lest the land become desolate, and the beast of the field multiply against thee. [30] By little and little I will drive them out from before thee, until thou be increased, and inherit the land.
Also another thing to consider is the land "vomiting" those inhabiting it out. Kind of gross isn't it?
Lev 18:24 Defile not ye yourselves in any of these things: for in all these the nations are defiled which I cast out before you:
Lev 18:25 And the land is defiled: therefore I do visit the iniquity thereof upon it, and the land itself vomiteth out her inhabitants.
Lev 18:26 Ye shall therefore keep my statutes and my judgments, and shall not commit any of these abominations; neither any of your own nation, nor any stranger that sojourneth among you:
Lev 18:27 (For all these abominations have the men of the land done, which were before you, and the land is defiled;)
Lev 18:28 That the land spue not you out also, when ye defile it, as it spued out the nations that were before you.
Just some things to consider about Gods Land He gave as a possession for His people.
Any thoughts?
Sorry I don't take more time on this forum it is a blessing. I also am usually working on the daily devotions but thanks to Brad for ministering in that way and God bless the brethren here everyone of yall .
One more final Scripture that is a blessing to Jews and Gentiles and all mankind even if we don't step foot in the earthly promised land...........
Joh 4:19 The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.
Joh 4:20 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.
Joh 4:21 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.
Joh 4:22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.
Joh 4:23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
Joh 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

Good point Little Owen...So glad you had time to check in here.
I think God spells out His reasoning in...
Judges 3:1-4
1 Now these are the nations that the LORD left, to test Israel by them, that is, all in Israel who had not experienced all the wars in Canaan.
2 It was only in order that the generations of the people of Israel might know war, to teach war to those who had not known it before.
3 These are the nations: the five lords of the Philistines and all the Canaanites and the Sidonians and the Hivites who lived on Mount Lebanon, from Mount Baal-hermon as far as Lebo-hamath.
4 They were for the testing of Israel, to know whether Israel would obey the commandments of the LORD, which he commanded their fathers by the hand of Moses.
Things may look really tough in life, and it might just be for our testing.
Will we learn and continue to be obedient?
Will we trust God?
