We just got great news from our city! We live in city limits of our tiny town in NE Georgia, but it has kept us from legally having chickens basing it of how much acreage.
We had a recent election that put in a new mayor and new council members.
We just found out we can have up to 10 chickens!!!!!!!!!!!
You do not know how excited we are and Brad/Christas newest video on BFH was a God thing!
My hubby Greg said, well we gotta start preparing fast!
I just cannot tell you how much of a blessing this is for us.
We dont forsee being able to move for about a year so this is just amazing news. (can you tell i'm excited!?)
Any recommendations for good hens for meat/eggs and docile would be greatly appreciated.
we have a shed like Brad's old one in ohio and we've already thought about converting it like his.
Please pray for guidance on what to do and the chickens to get.
Again, so thankful for all those that share info on chickens. I've been gathering info for years and now we get to finally do it!
Hugs
Jen
How exciting!!!
I am so excited for you!! Praise God for the change in council members. When we were young mom had Rhode Island Reds and we loved the hens and the eggs. We also had a few banti hens and they were great mamas to any of the eggs, chicken, ducks, or the goose although that was a stretch for her, because she was so tiny. I remember there was a flea infestation at one time, so look into that. We also raised rabbits for meat and the worms and fertilizer. Can you have those in your area?
Awesome! Praising God with you.
I love barred rock hens personally, the hens are very docile and the eggs are great but the barred rock roosters are very aggressive. If you are getting just hens they are a great bread but would not recommend the roosters for first timers. Also really liked Jersey Giants they lay good eggs and get to a good meat weight quickly if you want them for meat purposes.
