Amazing Grace. My grandma would sing it every time I did something wrong until I apologize. Sometimes I didn't even know what I did wrong but I apologized anyway. Know when I hear it I cry because I miss her so very much.
Maybe someone needs to be encouraged by this song. My boss just passed away recently. I had been praying that while he was on life support that God would draw him to himself. Praying now for his wife Ashley for God's comfort and peace and may she know true meaning of these lyrics by God's grace and mercy. What a friend we have in JESUS.1.What a friend we have in Jesus,
I love them all, but "Nearer my God to Thee", "It is Well With my Soul", "How Firm a Foundation", and "What Wondrous Love is This". Are the ones that I keep going back to.
love those - I remember asking my aunt what her favorite hymn was- her reply "whichever one is playing". I agree - I will add: "Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing", "How Gentle God's Commands"....oh my, I could go on. must be related to my aunt! lol
Honesty...I don't really know many/any really. I do know Cherish the old Rugged Cross. As a child of course I learned Jesus Loves the Little Children-I still sing that one in my head all the time though as no matter what our age, we are all Gods children. Oh and He's got the Whole World..In His Hands.

All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer!
Oh, what peace we often forfeit,
Oh, what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer!
2.Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged—
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful,
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness;
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
3.Are we weak and heavy-laden,
Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge—
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In His arms He’ll take and shield thee,
Thou wilt find a solace there.
4.Blessed Savior, Thou hast promised
Thou wilt all our burdens bear;
May we ever, Lord, be bringing
All to Thee in earnest prayer.
Soon in glory bright, unclouded,
There will be no need for prayer—
Rapture, praise, and endless worship
Will be our sweet portion there.
I grew up in a legalistic church and I have a hard time with hymns. But I found a version of "It is well" by Todd Agnew that I absolutely love.
How Great Thou Art and "I Speak Jesus"
I love them all, but "Nearer my God to Thee", "It is Well With my Soul", "How Firm a Foundation", and "What Wondrous Love is This". Are the ones that I keep going back to.
The Kingdom is Spreading
1 From all the dark places
Of earth's heathen races,
Oh, see how the thick shadows fly!
The voice of salvation
Awakes ev'ry nation,
Come over and help us, they cry.
Chorus:
The kingdom is spreading,
Oh, tell ye the story,
God's banner exalted shall be!
The earth shall be full of His knowledge and glory,
As waters that cover the sea!
2 The sunlight is glancing
O'er armies advancing
To conquer the kingdoms of sin;
Our Lord shall possess them,
His presence shall bless them,
His beauty shall enter them in.
[Chorus]
3 With praising, and singing,
And jubilant ringing,
Their arms of rebellion cast down,
At last ev'ry nation,
The Lord of salvation,
Their King and Redeemer shall own!
[Chorus]
This is a beautiful cover of it.
