In the chat this morning the statement was made,
“Only the Old Testament speaks against homosexuality.”
That is simply not true. And by the way the New Testament is simply a continuation of the Old testament. Neither one can contradict the other.
That being said, here are the verses in the New Testament. Feel free to discuss.
1 Corinthians 6:9-1 “Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.”
1 Timothy 1:8-11 “Now we know that the law is good, if one uses it lawfully, understanding this, that the law is not laid down for the just but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who strike their fathers and mothers, for murderers, the sexually immoral, men who practice homosexuality, enslavers, liars, perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound doctrine, in accordance with the gospel of the glory of the blessed God with which I have been entrusted.”
Romans 1:18-32 “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.
Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.
For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.
And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless. Though they know God's righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.”
Matthew 19:3-9 “And Pharisees came up to him and tested him by asking, “Is it lawful to divorce one's wife for any cause?” He answered, “Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female, and said, ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.” They said to him, “Why then did Moses command one to give a certificate of divorce and to send her away?” He said to them, “Because of your hardness of heart Moses allowed you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so. And I say to you: whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery.”
Mark 10:2-9 “And Pharisees came up and in order to test him asked, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?” He answered them, “What did Moses command you?” They said, “Moses allowed a man to write a certificate of divorce and to send her away.” And Jesus said to them, “Because of your hardness of heart he wrote you this commandment. But from the beginning of creation, ‘God made them male and female.’ ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.”
Jesus, Himself was extremely clear that marriage is between one man and one woman, instituted by God.
Yes, homosexuality is sin, there is forgiveness for sin only in Jesus. He died to save sinners.
There is no such thing as a “gay Christian”, because Christians have been given new hearts and minds, and they hate sin and love righteousness, though they struggle and fall True Christians are constantly striving to kill sin and be more like Jesus Christ. And a Christian would NEVER identify his or her self by a sin.
Yes true Christians, can struggle with Homosexual desires etc, and may even fall into that sin, But God in His love will discipline them and bring them back to Him.
Now if you are reading this and are convicted by your sin, flee to Christ! He is mighty to save.
We broken all of His laws the ten commandment [see Exodus 20] , We have lied, stolen, used His holy Name in vain, looked with lust, which is adultery, [see Matthew 5:27-30] hated people in our hearts which is murder of the heart, [see 1 John 3:15] We therefore stand guilty before a thrice Holy God. We deserve nothing but His wrath, which is an eternity in hell. Your good works will not save you, keeping the Torah will not save you. God is righteous, and just, and loving He love righteousness and hates wickedness, He is good, and His goodness will not let the guilty go unpunished.
“But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 Jesus is truly God and truly man. He lived the perfect life we never could live, He is absolutely sinless and pure. He was beaten, mocked, spat upon, crucified by evil men, He bore the white hot wrath of God we deserved. He drank it to the dregs, not a single drop was left, and He cried out “It is finished!” then He died. But he arose from the grave three days later, showing that God's wrath was satisfied, and that He is mighty to save. He ascended into heaven and is reigning victorious, and one day He will return and judge the world in Righteousness.
Jesus bore the punishment for His people's sins, and now you may be forgiven.
Now if you repent of your sins, turn from them and turn to God, and believe in Jesus Christ alone for Salvation. He will save you. He will give you a new heart and mind that can love Him and His righteousness and you will hate the sins you once loved.
Jesus paid the price, You can do absolutely nothing to save yourself, trust in the savior! Your next breath is not promised to you, you know one day you will stand before God, Oh if You hear His voice do harden your heart today is the day of Salvation. Pray, read the Word, see that Jesus is who He said He was. And believe in Him for your salvation, He will wash you clean and forgive your sins. Come to Christ before it is to late!
Sincerely in love,
Delanie bee.
Just making a comment here to get this back into the rotation, in light of the chat this morning. This old post might be helpful to some people. Much love in Christ, Delanie Bee
I shared in a women’s Bible study a “praise” that my gay female neighbor couple had split/divorced. I said it was a “praise” because it was one stumbling block less to come to Jesus.
It was explained that that was a wrong attitude. The attitude should be “pray for them to come to Salvation and then that will lead to an appropriate, through faith separation.”.
Thoughts?
Was I wrong?
I will not be offended if anyone’s explanation/thoughts indicate that I had a wrong perception/attitude.
I just am wanting input because this happened about three years ago.
Please think about and pray over your reply. I really truly want replies to be God led.
I did see the comment but wasn't sure why it was being mentioned.
I thank you Delanie for brining this back up because I had forgotten it was mentioned.
I wanted to add and support what she is saying in that OT or NT doesnt matter, Gods Word is Gods Word and ALL OF IT is relevant today. You cannot pick what you do and don't like or believe if you are a true Child of God by accepting him as your Savior.
Here is it in a nutshell.. you can't go, Yes i believe in Genesis that God created the world but the other stuff nope....
Let's remember this and it says it all!!
"Genesis 2:24 - Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh."
I am a parent of a daughter who chose homosexuality and to recently get married to her partner. We do not condone or approve. We have told her this, the whole family has but we didn't REJECT HER just her sin and choice. Just as all of us have things we sin and do daily, and need forgiveness daily, her SIN is (more ugly) in our face. We all love and want her around but stipulated not her partner (but we pray for her to be saved as well). So our daughter chose to cut us out of her life completely. She has and is always welcome to be a part of this family (just her). I text her that I love her and so far she hasn't blocked me but everywhere else in her life I am blocked. She doesn't ever respond, doesn't answer a call, and doesn't see us or talk to us (except her brother who is 17 and struggles with losing who he thought she was and the relationship they had). Not for Mother's Day, Birthday, nothing! It's hard to not ever and I mean EVER hear from her but through this grief, God has given me peace of praying over her and knowing that God is the only answer. I have given her to the Lord. I am not mad at her either because I know who is operating in her life, evil spirits, the enemy through her. One day when she becomes saved, and even now, I'm not mad at her or angry or bitter, I just love and will always be here for her. She will probably have regrets but I just love her.
Just as Brad has previously mentioned about divorce, we can't pick from the Bible what we want to obey or not because it doesn't fit our plans or desires. You have to answer to God for what you chose, as do I and stand before him (ALONE). God is gracious and merciful to forgive us if we ask and repent. I have many friends that chose divorce and remarried and I still love them and they are living for the Lord, but they have to know God's truth on it and ask forgiveness.
Please know that if you personally or you have a family member that has chosen this lifestyle... God loves you and is the only answer and His Word is HIS WORDS. You cannot live against His Word and truly be saved.
We all deal with temptations of our flesh, but God is the only answer and he provides a way of escape but you must be saved and pray to him. He is the ONLY WAY.. HE IS TRUTH...which brings eternal LIFE with him.
Hugs,
Jen
Thanks Delanie. Wow! I missed the comment. Thankful for many eyes. I’d say you covered the Scriptures on this topic and summed it up well in love.
