Here are my notes from today's devo - Jonah 2:1-9
fish (H1709) dāḡ /dawg/ any cold blooded sea creature with fins and scales
leviathan (H3882) livyatan /liv-ya-thawn/ sea monster, dragon, large aquatic animal
It doesn't say it was a whale but it also didn't call it a leviathan, just a big fish.
Did Jonah die?
v. 3-4
“I cried out to the LORD because of my affliction, And He answered me. Out of the belly of Sheol I cried, And You heard my voice.” I went down to the moorings of the mountains; The earth with its bars closed behind me forever; Yet You have brought up my life from the pit, O LORD, my God.
"As Jonah was 3 days and nights in the belly or the fish" Jesus died and resurrected on the 3rd day. Perhaps God resurrected Jonah. We don't know but it fits. ~BP Devo (Tyler Woods)
I was thinking the same thing..he asked if it could pass from him... he didnt "want' to if God would let it not need to happen. Mt. 26:39 - He gets it. ~jen@simplefaithanddaisies
"for they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and now something greater than Jonah is here” (Matthew 12:40–41) ~Roothie Tootie
No amount of prayer can change God's plan. Prayer changes US to align with God's plan. ~BP Devo (Tyler Woods)
Jonah wrote this book and his book was putting his own failings on display... My thoughts are "here is how not to do it."
